Picking Park
Be sure to take your lawn chairs and grab some ice cream at the nearby ice cream place and settle in for an evening of music. Washington Street Park fills with very talented musicians during the evening hours. Move from group to group to hear or join in and play wonderful acoustic music. Whether you are a picker or a listener, the Picking Park is the place to be anytime the weather is nice! It’s simply people making music because it is their passion!
Local Venues
Mountain View has several local venues where you can go listen to a wide variety of music or watch some awesome music shows usually including some great comedy to keep laughing as well as tapping you feet to the music. Most all the entertainment in Mountain View is extremely family friendly so you don’t have worry about what your kids may see or hear. There’s always something new on the schedule so check out all your options and take in a show!
Folk Festival
Boasting 58 years, the annual Arkansas Folk Festival, takes place every April. Come join us in the beautiful Ozarks for a fun filled weekend with activities for all ages! Activities include music on the square, craft vendors and tasty food vendors. The festival is held on the Historic Courthouse Square and marks the beginning of the 2022 season at the Ozark Folk Center State Park where admission is free to the craft village on both Friday and Saturday.
Courthouse Stage
Mountain View Courthouse Music has been greatly successful at producing Friday and Saturday scheduled concerts by local acts as well as many that travel from far and wide to to perform on the Courthouse Stage. On a pretty evening, expect to see a couple hundred people singing, dancing, eating an ice cream cone or a funnel cake and just having a blast. It is a unique an uplifting experience but most of all… Expect good music!
Bluegrass Festival
The Mountain View Bluegrass Festival is produced by the Mountain View Bluegrass Association Inc., the three-day festival is a bi-annual event held indoors at the Ozark Folk Center in March and November. The Bluegrass Association is a non-profit organization that gives back a portion of the proceeds to support the Music Roots program, which teaches traditional instruments to local youth in the Mountain View area!
Bluegrass Show & Tell
The Bluegrass Show & Tell on KABF 88.3 FM with Angel and Larry. Playing bluegrass music every Tuesday from 5-7pm. The Bluegrass Show & Tell is a radio show with DJs Larry & Angel Cross. Our mission is to play the best in bluegrass music available, both old school and current tunes, with attention to Arkansas musicians old & young alike while promoting bluegrass music in the area.
Ozark Folk Center
Ozark Folk Center State Park is dedicated to Interpretive principles that perpetuate the music, crafts, and culture of the Ozarks. Located about a mile from downtown Mountain View, and open from mid April to late October, the Folk Center offers visitors an opportunity to watch artisans of all types create their crafts, to stroll through the Heritage Herb Garden, and to hear live Southern mountain music. OFC also has awesome 1000 seat music auditorium!
Picking Sheds
Mountain View is an awesome place to bring your rig and stay at one of the many RV Parks located in town as well as out near White River, Sylamore Creek and Blanchard Springs recreation are. Many of these RV Parks have picking sheds where the RV’ers go to pick and listen to a variety of acoustic music styles, hang out with like minded folks and even break bread together. So be sure to pack your instrument in your RV and come see us!
